Kanyam Tea Producer Cooperative Society Ltd. is located in Suryodaya Municipality 08, Kanyam, the eastern parts of Nepal, Kanyam,Ilam. It was established in 2069 B.S with the influence of tea cooperative movement in Nepal by the creation of togetherness among small tea farmers of this region. It has 137 members and the engaged farmer’s tea garden occupies about 1500 Ropani area. Presently, about 1,000 farmers are benefited with the establishment of this cooperative.
At the initial stage cooperative was created for collecting and selling green leaves from cooperative members of cooperative members of cooperative. As tea was planted here on rugged slopes and uneven terrain are largely inaccesible to vehicles. But, gradually according to the need of farmers cooperatives vision becomes broader. Due to the joint effort of members in cooperative, cooperative become able to establish own saving and credit group which facilitates the small tea farmers of cooperative. Along with this, the major progress achieved by cooperative is the establishment of cooperative tea processing factory. Now, cooperative has its own vehicle which creates easy access of green leaves from farmers field to factory.
