Introduction

Embracing the principles of cooperative and its basic values ​​and norms, Gogane Tea Producer Cooperative was established in 2067 BS in Suryodaya Municipality ward no 08, Ilam with the objectives of encouraging its members to produce tea, collecting green tea leaves from tea grower and selling them for the improvement of the living standards of its members through financial and non-financial services. This cooperative currently has 88 members including 62 male and 26 female members. This cooperative is affiliated to the District Cooperative Federation, Ilam and subjectiv Tea Producer District Federation and Central Tea Cooperative Federation Ltd. Nepal. This cooperative has total of 22.9 hector of tea cultivation

Production, processing and marketing of tea for the agricultural prosperity

Mission

To provide the members affiliated with the cooperative with the production, processing, and marketing of green leaves and other agricultural products, as well as fertilizer production and savings/credit and other financial services, and to create an environment for self-employment and sustainable cooperative by enhancing the skills and capabilities of the members.

Goal

To comply with the prevailing laws and regulations within the scope of the organization and to promote the economic, social and cultural progress of the organization and its members.

Objectives

    • To create a sense of self-reliance, mutual cooperation and thrift among the members,
    • To manage the market for the products,
    • To plant tea plantations for organic tea production,
    • To provide organic fertilizers and organic pesticides required for tea production,
    • To produce and process tea and package it,
    • To market the products nationally and internationally,
    • To encourage members to engage in tea farming and support their economic development,
    • To establish a Tea Development Fund for sustainable financial resources,
    • To create sustainable financial resources needed in the future by involving members in compulsory savings, regular savings and various types of savings,

Activities carried out by the cooperative:

    1. Mobilizing savings and loans.
    2. Producing and expanding tea farming.
    3. Buying and selling green tea leaves.
    4. Conducting technical, entrepreneurship and cooperative awareness trainings.
    5. Conducting partnership programs with various associations and organizations.
