Introduction
Embracing the principles of cooperatives and their basic values and norms, Sidingwa Tea Producer Cooperative Society Limited has been established in 2062 to encourage professional tea farming, processing and marketing of the produced tea. It is located at Siddicharan Municipality 02, Okhaldhunga. The cooperatives is actively working to bring improvements in the living standards of its members, mainly through encouraging tea farming, collecting and selling organic green leaves tea produced by its member, and providing financial and non-financial services. This cooperative is affiliated with the District Cooperative Federation, Tea Producers Cooperative Federation and Central Tea Cooperative Federation CTCF Nepal. There are 25 members in the cooperatives.
Goal
To promote the economic, social and cultural development of the cooperative and its members by complying with the prevailing laws and regulations within the scope of the cooperative.
Objective
- To encourage members to extend tea farming.
- To help members build society by providing them with knowledge of self-reliance, mutual cooperation, thrift and self-reliance.
- To improve the economic life of the farmers affiliated with the cooperative in organic tea farming.
- To increase the primary needs and income of the members by collecting the scattered capital and investing it in tea farming.
- To inform the members by organizing training seminars on the importance and benefits of organic fertilizers, organic medicines, and tea.
- To enable the cooperative in financial and non-financial activities to benefit the member.
- To produce green tea leaves, the raw material required for the tea factory.
- To build an tea processing factory.
- To sell and distribute produced tea in national and international markets.
Additional objectives
- To provide organic fertilizers and pesticides by the cooperative and to reduce the financial burden on the members by selling daily necessities at reasonable prices through the cooperative shop.
- To provide organic fertilizers and organic pesticides required for tea production.
- To create sustainable financial resources required in the future by involving members of compulsory savings, regular savings and various types of savings institutions.
- To increase the attraction of farmers towards organic farming systems by organizing observation tours of places where organic farming systems are adopted.
- To provide all kinds of technical support required by farmers.
- To conduct daily operations as provided in the Cooperative Act, rules and regulations, keeping the interests of the cooperative and its members in mind, and to acquire, purchase, sell, exchange, transfer, deposit, mortgage, etc. movable and immovable property, etc.
- To increase income sources and employment opportunities to improve the economic, social and educational status of the members of the cooperative.
- To provide interest to the depositors on their deposits at a competitive rate if deposits are received from the members regularly.
- To provide loans to the members at a specified interest rate for production, income-generating and skill-generating purposes.
- To establish direct contact with the bodies that provide the services and facilities required by the members.
- To accept donations and grants received from donor cooperatives without any conditions.
- To maintain a spirit of cooperation with local, regional, national and international cooperatives with similar objectives to achieve its objectives.
- To provide assistance in the economic and social upliftment of the weaker sections and low-income individuals and groups in the society.
- To obtain loans at concessional rates from cooperative and non-cooperative financial institutions and other bodies, if necessary.
