Aama Tea Producer Cooperative Society Ltd. is a women-led initiative based in Teen Block, Ward No. 4 of Suryodaya Municipality, Ilam. Established in 2078 B.S. and registered under Registration No. 4/1/2078/79 at Suryodaya Municipality, Fikkal, the cooperative stands as a symbol of female empowerment in the agricultural sector. What makes this cooperative unique is its leadership structure—comprising only women on its board—showcasing the strength and capability of women in managing and leading agricultural enterprises.
The cooperative is affiliated with the Central Tea Cooperative Federation (CTCF) Nepal and is actively engaged in the collection and sale of green tea leaves. Alongside its commercial operations, Aama Tea Producer Cooperative also advocates for organic tea farming, recognizing the importance of sustainable practices that are both environmentally friendly and beneficial to consumer health. Their commitment to organic farming reflects a broader vision of promoting quality and eco-conscious agriculture in the Ilam region.
With technical support from CTCF Nepal, the cooperative has received various forms of capacity building, including technical training and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) training. These programs have empowered its members with the knowledge and skills needed to improve tea production practices, ensure workplace safety, and enhance the overall quality of their products. Through such efforts, Aama Tea Producer Cooperative not only contributes to the local tea economy but also serves as a model for inclusive development and women's leadership in rural Nepal.
