1.1 Background
Having regard to the Impact@Origin program of MAAS International (MAAS) attempting to make a difference in the countries MAAS is doing business in, by shifting essential elements from the value chain to the country of origin. Having regard that as part of this program, MAAS is buying tea from Tinjure Tea Cooperative Society ltd. (TTC) in Nepal and that MAAS not only buys tea, but is also committed to support TTC on (RFA) certification, add value at the level of the cooperative (f.e. by attractive and unigue packaging) and support in professionalizing the cooperative business, in order to have a successful business model that creates a positive impact for the tea producers. Having regard that a Marketing and Business Development coordinator (MBDC) is hired by MAAS to manage, coordinate, facilitate, guide and coach TTC in the sourcing, value addition and other business-related activities for MAAS.
- Having regard to the assistance that Agriterra Nepal is providing by coaching and assisting the MBDC and TTC in the activities regarding the Impact@Origin program of MAAS.
- Explore and implement a successful export marketing strategy for TTC, meeting the demands of MAAS International, in close coordination with TTC.
- Coaching and guiding TTC on tea quality, setting up a track and trace system, hygiene standards, making policy for meeting the Rainforest Alliance (RFA) standards and the implementation of activities for RFA and organic standards.
- Assisting TTC on (financial) administrative purposes.
- Ensure timely and open communication with all stakeholders in this cooperation: TTC, CTCF, MAAS and Agriterra.
- Establish functional relations with Nepalese stakeholders like relevant government agencies, NTCDB, tea export traders etc. in order to ensure alignment with Nepalese export rules and regulations.
- Act as host (office space) for the MBDC in Illam.
- Having regard that CTCF and MAAS have an agreement (based on ToR - April 2017) in which CTCF is providing support on several levels (listed below) in
Objective
Ensure the successful continuation of tea export programme with TTC and MAAS including activities to upscale and increase the impact of MAAS in Nepal, benefitting all parties, and in line with Nepalese laws and regulations.
Support by CTCF
CTCF will support MAAS and the MBDC by means of the following:
- Host (office space) to MBDC in Ilam.
- Provide assistance to MBDC in the process of exporting tea to NL.
- Coach and monitoring MBD coordinator concerning the activities linked to the Origin@Impact program.
- Provide capacity development (training) to MBDC.
- Looking for new business opportunities for MAAS' Impact@Origin program together with MBDC.
- Regularly (monthly) report to Agriterra and MAAS (responsibility MBDC). Regarding COVID-19: undertake action in the unfortunate event something might happen that negatively affects the MBDC and take care for safe working conditions (e.g. by providing travel permittance)
