Main Objectives:
- Improved capacities of tea cooperatives to promote safety and health of women and men workers
- To increase awareness on OHS and gender equality among the cooperatives and its member
- To strengthen the capacity of tea cooperatives through a self-regulatory framework/guideline/Code of Conduct and action plan promoting OSH and Gender Violence
- To identify the current situation of OSH and Gender violence among the tea cooperatives
- To formulate the policy and guideline promoting OSH and prevention of violence and harassment
Major Activities
- Activity 1.1.1: Consultative meeting with representatives of tea cooperatives in 4 training among the 5 districts (Ilam, Jhapa, Panchthar, Dhankuta, Taplejung,) sharing about the OSH in the sector and the proposed work on the lines of OSH promotion in select cooperatives (20 person X 4 meeting X 1 day)
- Activity 1.1.2: Identification and selection of cooperatives that would be a part of the program and a virtual orientation to be conducted on the objectives of the program. (25 cooperatives – Ilam 16, Jhapa 2, Dhankuta 3, Panchthar 1, Taplejung 1))
- Activity 1.1.3: Identify and Finalize individuals who will be mobilized as trainers and will receive series of Training of Trainers (ToT) on WIND (Work Improvement in Neighborhood Development)/ WISE (Work Improvement for Small Enterprises), Risk Assessment, Business Continuity, Prevention of Violence & harassment at workplace
- Activity 1.1.4 Guideline development for OSH and Gender Committee formation in tea cooperatives
- Activity 1.1.5 Orientation to OSH and Gender committee members on the role and responsibilities of the committees including 25 cooperatives
- Activity 1.6: Setting up of OSH and Gender Committee in 25 cooperatives enterprises at the workplace level (5-member committee)
- Activity 1.7: Orientation to OSH and Gender committee members on the role and responsibilities of the committees (125 participants – 4 trainings)
- Activity 2.1.1: Conduct Enterprise level trainings on OSH and prevention of violence and harassment at workplace along with the Checklist walk through in 25 enterprises
- Activity 2.1.2: OSH committee and Facilitators from CTCF document the outcome of the OSH checklists and Risk Assessments done and prepare action plan
- Activity 2.1.3: CTCF to prepare a situation report of all enterprises based on the reports
- Activity 2.1.4: CTCF ensures implementation of Action Plan and prepare periodic reports for 25 enterprises and provide support as and when required

- Activity 3.1.1: Preparation of a guideline to promote OSH in workplace and prevention of violence and harassment in the tea cooperatives.

Main Objectives:
Strengthen capacities of CTCF and its member tea cooperatives to promote safety and health of women and men workers
Immediate objectives
Immediate Objective 1: Actors in tea cooperatives have improved understanding and address the issues related to OSH and core labour standards, and prevention of gender based violence to initiate sectoral and workplace actions.
Immediate Objective 2: Workplace level improvement are made by tea cooperatives to improve health and safety and prevent violence and harassment at the workplace
Immediate Objective 3: A self-regulatory framework/OSH guideline on promoting OSH and prevention of violence and harassment is adopted and implemented by CTCF and its members
Major Activities
Activity 1.1:
Orientation on OSH, need and function of OSH committee to Executive committee (newly elected or not covered by previous intervention) of selected 25 cooperative and sharing the OSH guideline prepared by CTCF Nepal - 2 orientation workshop (Ilam, Fikkal) to 50 participants for 1 day
Activity 1.2:
Develop additional signage with local farming info graphics and code of conduct and disseminate at the community and workplace level so garden workers can learn from that through the help of signage (5 types of stickers 500 Copies)
Activity 1.3
Develop the voluntary OSH inspection team (50 voluntary) from the member cooperatives and organize orientation training on role and responsibility to mobilize at the community level under the supervision of member cooperatives & CTCF (2 Orientation trainings, Ilam bazar-1 Fikkal bazar-1)
Activity 2.1
Follow up visit & coaching to OSH committee for the effective implementation of action plan, improved work place as per the results of checklist walkthrough in 25 selected cooperatives in Ilam, Jhapa, Panchthar, Taplejung and Dhankuta Districts
Activity 2.2
Documentation of the implementation status of the OSH policy, risk assessment, action plan, walkthrough exercise with plan in the 25 selected cooperatives and provide technical support.
Activity 2.3
Developing the standard (in Nepali) format about record keeping, minutes of OSH committee, risk assessment and print and distribute to the cooperative.
Activity 2.4
Conduct refresher training to representative of OSH committee on Occupational Safety and Health and committee functions in Ilam (25 participants for 1 day)
Activity 3.1
Stakeholder meeting with Local governments (Deumai, Suryodaya and Haldibari RM) to share project intervention and way forward. (3 meeting 21 participants for one day)
Activity 3.2
Prepare the simple version of guidelines (main parts) in Nepali language that will help to cooperative to implement guidelines easily (step wise step process) (500 copies in form of leaflets
Activity 3.3
OSH best practices learning and exchange visit in Ilam (Orthodox Tea Factory) and Jhapa (CTC Tea Factory) districts for 25 cooperative representatives (2 days visits)
