Situated in Mechinagar Municipality Ward No. 4, Shubh Chiya Kisan Cooperative Society Limited stands as a transformative force in the economic, social, and cultural landscape for small tea farmers. Founded in 2064, this cooperative, comprising 78 members, actively cultivates and processes quality green leaves across 500 hectares of land. Specializing in the production of CTC teas, the cooperative has become a key player in shaping positive changes for the local tea farming community.Tea plantations have existed in the far-eastern Bahunangi region of Nepal for many years. However, the commencement of professional tea cultivation only took place after the year 2050-2051. Due to the predominant reliance on traditional farming practices in this area, the local community has faced significant challenges in recent years. The incursion of wild elephants from India has led to widespread destruction of crops and unfortunate casualties. Transitioning from conventional farming methods to alternative practices has been a strenuous endeavor, requiring considerable effort from the community.
Introducing the "Chure Gold Tea" brand, proudly brought to you by the Shubh Chia Kisan Cooperative Society Limited. This distinguished cooperative, situated in Mechinagar Municipality Ward No. 4, has curated a unique tea experience that reflects the essence of quality, sustainability, and the rich heritage of small tea farmers. The cooperative is also conducting various programmes to strengthen the capacity of their member (such as technical training on tea cultivation, cooperative education, and training on financial management).
