Himali Tea Producer Cooperative Society
Located about 30 km from Phidim Bazar, the headquarters of the Pachathar district, the then Hilihang Rural Municipality is situated on the Mechi Highway. Initially, a group of 29 small tea farmers, including 10 women and 19 men, decided to discourage the use of chemical farming techniques. Instead, they aimed to introduce modern farming techniques for the expansion and management of organic tea cultivation. By growing collectively, they sought to secure fair prices for their tea leaves.
To achieve this, the Himali Tea Producers Cooperative Society (Ltd.) was established. The goal of the cooperative is to organize small tea farmers who are scattered across their respective fields and support their social, economic, and cultural development. The cooperative also aims to increase the daily income of these farmers through collective efforts.
The Himali Tea Producers Cooperative Society (Ltd.) was officially registered on 2064/03/13 and 2064/10/23 at the Division Cooperative Office Ilam with registration number 345/2064/065.
