Introduction
Registered under number 3/736/2070/71 at the Division Cooperative Office, Ilam on 2070/6/9 B.S., this tea cooperative operates in Maijogmai Rural Municipality-1. It comprises 112 members, including 33 women, who are actively involved in the collection and sale of green tea leaves.
The cooperative plays an important role in promoting organic tea cultivation and has been a strong advocate for environmentally friendly and sustainable farming practices. It is affiliated with both the Central Tea Cooperative Federation (CTCF) Nepal and the District Tea Cooperative Federation (DTCF) Ilam, which helps it stay connected with broader networks in Nepal’s tea sector.
In addition to its commercial activities, the cooperative emphasizes capacity building and the well-being of its members. It has provided various training programs, including technical training, occupational safety and health (OSH), organic manure production, and tea leaf harvesting techniques.
These trainings not only enhance productivity but also promote safe and sustainable farming practices. By empowering its members with knowledge and skills, the cooperative contributes to improving the livelihoods of local tea farmers and supports the long-term development of the organic tea industry in the region.
