Bauddhadham Tea Producer Cooperative Society Ltd. is located in Suryodaya Municipality word no 3, Ilam District, Nepal. The cooperative aims to restrict the use of chemical fertilizers, promote commercial tea farming, process the tea produced, and provide proper training and advanced materials to tea farmers. It also focuses on promoting and integrating tea farming in the region.

Following the principles and fundamental values of cooperatives, the organization primarily encourages its members in tea production, collects green tea leaves from producers, facilitates buying and selling, and supports the production and marketing of fertilizers needed for tea.

With the goal of selling the produced tea, the cooperative was officially established on April 15, 2008 (B.S. 2065/01/03) by 34 members through registration with the Division Cooperative Office, Ilam. The cooperative currently has 75 members, including 55 men and 20 women. The cooperative is affiliated with the District Cooperative Federation Ilam, District Tea Producer Cooperative Federation, and the Central Tea Cooperative Federation, Nepal (CTCF-Nepal).

Mission

    • The cooperative aims to unite its members and tea farmers scattered in rural areas by encouraging the production, processing, and marketing of organic green tea leaves at competitive prices. Additionally, it supports the production of organic fertilizers and the provision of savings, loans, and other financial services. The cooperative will also enhance members’ skills and capabilities, creating an environment for self-employment and developing as a sustainable long-term institution.

 Goals

    • To comply with prevailing laws and regulations within the cooperative’s operational area, ensuring economic, social, and cultural upliftment for both the cooperative and its members.

Objectives

While the primary objective of the cooperative is to eliminate the increasing use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in tea production and encourage organic fertilizer and natural plant-based pesticides to meet international tea production standards, it also focuses on:

    • Reducing pesticide use and conserving the environment.
    • Encouraging members to work according to cooperative principles, selling green tea leaves collected as shares and distributing net profits based on share value to improve members' financial and social living standards.
    • Conducting financial transactions, collecting deposits, and providing loans to members under the cooperative model.
    • Facilitating market access for members' tea products.
    • Enhancing members’ skills through cooperative education, business, and skill-based training programs.
    • Promoting social, cultural, and environmental conservation activities within the member community to achieve cooperative objectives.
    • Initiating organic tea farming.
