Introduction
Batase Tea Producer Cooperative Society Ltd., located in Suryodaya Municipality-14 of Ilam District, was officially registered with the Division Cooperative Office, Ilam, on the 9th of Baisakh, 2066 B.S. (April 22, 2009), under registration number 413/2065/66. The cooperative is affiliated with both the Central Tea Cooperative Federation (CTCF) Nepal and the District Tea Cooperative Federation (DTCF) Ilam, aligning its objectives with national and district-level cooperative movements in the tea sector.
Currently, the cooperative has a membership of 42 individuals who are actively engaged in tea farming and cooperative activities. Batase Tea Producer Cooperative provides essential services to its members, including savings and loan facilities that support their agricultural and personal financial needs. It plays a vital role in the collection and marketing of green tea leaves produced by local farmers, ensuring fair market access and stable income for its members.
Furthermore, the cooperative is committed to promoting organic tea farming practices, thereby contributing to sustainable agriculture and the production of high-quality, eco-friendly tea. Through these initiatives, Batase Tea Producer Cooperative continues to enhance the livelihoods of smallholder tea farmers and strengthen the local economy in its working area of Suryodaya Municipality-14.
