Background
The ARISE-Farmers builds on the coverage of the ongoing IFAD regional project named Asian Pacific Farmer Programme (APFP) manage and implemented by the Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Development (AFA) as the Regional Implementing Agency (RIA) through National Peasant Coalition as National Implementation Agency (NIA). Nepal Agriculture Cooperative Central Federation Limited (NACCFL) is the implementing partner of for the
Component 1: FO service Development of APFP program.
Under the framework of the APFP, NACCFL undertake the implementation of the Revolving Fund at the national level, including the administration, monitoring, effective supervision and recovery of the recoverable grant proceeds, on the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement.
ARISE-Farmers target specially focuses on smallholder men and women farmers/producers needing production assistance for the immediate next cropping season within the lockdown and post lockdown. Amongst the target group of smallholder farmer/producers, a sub-group includes those small holder farmers with the potential to become active economic players in a wide array of emerging value chains supported by various quality services provided by their FOs. The goal of ARISE-Farmers is to contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of ending hunger and poverty by empowering federated farmers groups in meeting the needs of their members as well as ensuring healthy and sufficient food supply during the COVID pandemic and beyond.
Objective:
- Ensure that the most vulnerable farming household are COVID-free with their assets secured by being effectively reached through the provision of essential food/commodities, and associated services.
- Strengthen capacities of FOs to manage production support to members and expand the existing 4Ps partnership in order to address the current lock down and market access difficulties.
- Install effective online and offline communication and knowledge management tools and mechanism to complement/ support both emergency and resiliency initiatives including simple e-commerce platform for FOs and food consumers.
Project period and total fund
Project period: The Agreement is effective for a period of 12 (Twelve) months from the last date of signature and at the latest on 09 April 2023. It shall be executed solely in Nepal.
Total amount of Fund: Revolving Fund, an aggregate amount of NPR 50,00,000.00.
