Main Objectives:

  1. Improved capacities of tea cooperatives to promote safety and health of women and men workers

Specific Objectives:  

  1. To increase awareness on OHS and gender equality among the cooperatives and its member
  2. To strengthen the capacity of tea cooperatives through a self-regulatory framework/guideline/Code of Conduct and action plan promoting OSH and Gender Violence
  3. To identify the current situation of OSH and Gender violence among the tea cooperatives
  4. To formulate the policy and guideline promoting OSH and prevention of violence and harassment

Major Activities

  • Activity 1.1.1: Consultative meeting with representatives of tea cooperatives in 4 training  among the 5 districts  (Ilam, Jhapa, Panchthar, Dhankuta, Taplejung,) sharing about the OSH in the sector and the proposed work on the lines of OSH promotion in select cooperatives (20 person X 4 meeting X 1 day)
  • Activity 1.1.2:  Identification and selection of cooperatives that would be a part of the program and a virtual orientation to be conducted on the objectives of the program. (25 cooperatives – Ilam 16, Jhapa 2, Dhankuta 3, Panchthar 1, Taplejung 1))
  • Activity 1.1.3:  Identify and Finalize individuals who will be mobilized as trainers and will receive series of Training of Trainers (ToT) on WIND (Work Improvement in Neighborhood Development)/ WISE (Work Improvement for Small Enterprises), Risk Assessment, Business Continuity, Prevention of Violence & harassment at workplace
  • Activity 1.1.4   Guideline development for OSH and Gender Committee formation in tea cooperatives
  • Activity 1.1.5   Orientation to OSH and Gender committee members on the role and responsibilities of the committees including 25 cooperatives 
  • Activity 1.6:  Setting up of OSH and Gender Committee in 25 cooperatives enterprises at the workplace level (5-member committee)
  • Activity 1.7: Orientation to OSH and Gender committee members on the role and responsibilities of the committees (125 participants – 4 trainings)
  • Activity 2.1.1: Conduct Enterprise level trainings on OSH and prevention of violence and harassment at workplace along with the Checklist walk through in 25 enterprises
  • Activity 2.1.2: OSH committee and Facilitators from CTCF document the outcome of the OSH checklists and Risk Assessments done and prepare action plan
  • Activity 2.1.3: CTCF to prepare a situation report of all enterprises based on the reports
  • Activity 2.1.4: CTCF ensures implementation of Action Plan and prepare periodic reports for 25 enterprises and provide support as and when required
  • Activity 2.1.5: Review meetings with representatives of OSH and Gender committees for progress update (1 meeting)
  • Activity 3.1.1: Preparation of a guideline to promote OSH in workplace and prevention of violence and harassment in the tea cooperatives.
  • Activity 3.1.2: Consultation on the guideline with members of CTCF
  • Activity 3.1.3 Sharing and adoption of the self-regulatory guideline/code of conduct through CTCF Board Meeting
